As most of you already know, the Department of Defense announced yesterday that Sgt. Daniel M. Angus, 28, of Thonotosassa, Fl died January 24th while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Angus was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
We are planning an escort for him and we need your support. We are not sure when his body will arrive at MacDill, but we expect it to be within the next couple of days. Once again, we would like to have supporters all along the route from MacDill to the funeral home, Serenity Meadows in Riverview. I will let you know as soon as I have an exact date, time and route. Please come out and show this family your support.

Please pass this along and thanks in advance.

On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, Bay Pines National Cemetery will have the ceremony for Unattended Veterans. These are Former Service Members that for one reason or another had no family members to set up services for these Patriots. Come out and stand for these Veterans as their family. Once again, we will have some Military vehicles to ride over in if you wish to do so. It doesn't matter when, where, or how they served, only that they did.  Please bring your 3'x5' American Flag if you have one to stand a flag line.
We will leave Post 273 at 2:30pm as the ceremony will be at 3:00. The Korean War Veterans Organization will provide the Honor Guard.

On Friday, February 12, 2010 the Post 273 Legion Riders will have a bake at the Post. All of the proceeds will go to the Paws 4 Patriots program at Southeast Guide Dogs in Palmetto. On Satureday the 13th we will have a Valentines Dinner / Dance with the proceeds also going to the Paws 4 Patriots program. If you would like to contribute to the bake sale or attend the dinner /dance, please contact Danita Gainy, Randall McNabb, or Linda.

On a further note; We rode down to the Southeast Guide Dogs in Palmetto this past Saturday had a great time and donated $1100.00 to the program. The best part is that one of our Legionieres, a Marine Corps Veteran has been accepted into the guide dog program and may enter the training program for a Guide Dog as early as February 15th.

Thanks to ALL for your past and future support.
